Distance courses involve teachers and students interacting not in person, but over a distance. All of the components of traditional education (a goal, contents, methods, organizational forms, etc) are present, though education is held through the Internet or other means that still allow for interaction between students and teachers, while giving students more independence than traditional classes.
Distance courses allow for:
Educators to lower the costs of providing a class, as there are no costs for classrooms and transportation;
Large class sizes without affecting the quality of education;
Using more modern technologies, including electronic libraries;
Creating a unified educational environment, especially for corporate classes.
Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University created a basic program for all distance courses. More information can be found on the Distance Courses website: www.eders.manas.edu.kg
